If You Have Found An International Job Using JobMine

Your next steps:

1. Confirm The Following With Your Employer
  • What are the start and end dates of the work term at your company
  • What salary is being offered
  • Clarify information regarding relocation costs such as visa fees, flights/travel costs, accommodation - who will pay for these and who will arrange these
Details of your employer contact can be found in your Profile on JobMine (JobMine > Student > Use > Profile).

2. Work Permit

You will need a work permit to work in a country other than Canada unless you possess a passport to that country. Please submit a copy of this work permit/visa by hand, by fax or scan it and send it electronically to Cathy Stein if you are working in the USA, or to Sandra Shantz if you are working anywhere outside of North America.

3. Health Insurance

You must have health insurance coverage for the entire time you are outside of Canada. Find out more about the FEDS Health and Dental Plan.

4. UW Documentation

It is mandatory that you submit and complete the online Risk Management Form (sent automatically to your international co-op advisor) who will follow up with you if necessary).

5. Review the DepartSmart Manual

Use your UWdir ID and password to access the DepartSmart Manual. Review these materials before attending the mandatory pre-departure session.

6. Attend The Mandatory Pre-Departure Sessions

Attend the sessions only if this is your first work term in the USA or outside of North America.
