AdmissionsHow are students admitted into co-op? If you're applying to get into the co-op program, you must check the "co-op" box on the OUAC application form. Admission to co-op usually occurs if and when admission to your program of choice is granted--co-op normally requires a higher admittance average than the regular program. Some programs may admit students into co-op in second year. Some programs at UW are only offered as a co-op program. These programs are: Accounting and Financial Management, Architecture, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy, Biotechnology/Economics, Business Administration (WLU) and Mathematics (UW) Double Degree, Engineering (all programs), Environment and Business, Honours Arts and Business specializations (Cultural Management, Digital Arts Communication, International Trade), Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy, Software Engineering, and the French, Mathematics, and Science Teaching Options. Please do not contact Co-operative Education & Career Action for information about being admitted to co-op. This is administered by the faculty you are applying to and the University Registrar's Office. Can students outside of Canada be admitted into co-op?
Yes, international students on student visas can apply to and be accepted into co-op programs at UW. Please note that there is a limited number of places available for visa students, and as a result competition for admission will be extremely intense.
